Abstract
This research paper spans the distinctive relationship between art and architecture, probing into the characteristics and interplay at the intersection of these two spheres. A lingering study of art and architecture influences each other, with each refining the other. This research paper embraces the assertion: “Minimalism is architecture without art.” However, isn’t minimalism art in itself? Art is subjective, in that the interpretation, meaning, focus, and response to an artwork will vary from person to person. Minimalism is an art form that influences design and architecture, emphasizes clarity, and dilutes unnecessary elements. Furthermore, this paper will look at the interplay between minimalism and sustainability, focusing on how reducing elements might cooperate with healthy sustainable practices. This research paper aims to analyze the concept of minimalism in architecture and how it may differ from the same concept of brands and products. Minimalism may be recognized as the blotting out or eclipse of art, ironic of the concept to also be recognized as an art movement, in its physical form which may be witnessed in logos or packaging. The effect minimalism has in architectural terms may keep intact, the abstraction of art. The research looks into the creative processes, challenges, and incredible innovations and opportunities that arise with the fusion of art in the form of minimalism and architecture. The paper covers the case studies, analysis, and personal interviews with practitioners in both fields that can help understand the dialogue between art and architecture.
